The Department of Transportation has announced a lawsuit against Southwest and has fined Frontier for illegally operating multiple chronically delayed flights.

Frontier plans to add three new routes from New York’s JFK Airport later this year. The ultra-low-cost carrier first began service to the airport in June 2024.

Spirit and Frontier’s survival may very well depend on another merger attempt, says longtime airline founder David Neeleman.

These new routes will connect passengers from 21 airports across the United States and the Caribbean, the carrier said in a Tuesday news release.
