Aircraft Orders and Deliveries

Boeing revealed Tuesday that a previously unidentified order for 30 737 MAX aircraft was placed by aviation leasing company Macquarie AirFinance.

Alaska Air Group – the parent company of Alaska and Hawaiian – is planning to diversify its order book with larger widebody aircraft.

Korean Air has agreed to purchase 103 new Boeing aircraft, the largest order ever for the airline and Boeing’s largest widebody order from an Asian carrier.

Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific this week ordered 14 more Boeing 777-9 aircraft, bringing its total order for the model to 35.

Delivery of the longer-range narrowbody aircraft was initially slated for 2023, but has since been delayed following the airline’s 2019 order.

Officials from the two companies marked the handover with a ceremony at Airbus’ facility in Hamburg, Germany, earlier this week.

The company currently has 145 A320neo-family aircraft in its delivered fleet, and commitments for a further 358, including this week’s order.

Greek flag carrier Aegean Airlines has placed an order for two new Airbus A321XLRs, which it plans to use on long-haul flights to India.

The airline said Thursday that the acquisition will support plans for more long-haul routes to the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Alaska plans to utilize the 787s to support long-haul flying, including newly announced service from its Seattle hub to Rome.
